Certified Surgical Technologist- Main OR - Days

Provides intraoperative care to patients by functioning as the scrub person assisting the surgical team during an operative procedure. Minimum Qualifications Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse and at least two (2) years of prior scrub experience. Or completion of a Surgical Technology Program, surgical technologist certification, and certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire. Experience Preference is given to candidates with at least one year of Surgical Technology experience and advanced knowledge of desired specialty. Core Duties and Responsibilities Utilize quality aseptic technique when working in an unsterile or sterile role in the OR. Assist the circulating RN in monitoring technique of all persons in the OR to maintain a sterile field. Perform sponge, instrument, and needle counts with the circulating RN following established guidelines. Assist with gowning and gloving surgeons and positioning equipment and instruments. Pass sterile instruments to the surgical team during a surgical procedure. Assist with transportation and positioning of the patients, including holding retractors and positioning operative limbs under surgeon direction. Prepare supplies and equipment for surgical procedures following preference cards. Assist with sterilization and maintenance of sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment. Monitor inventory; order and restock supplies, instruments, and equipment. Remove out-of-date items and discard or reprocess following established guidelines. Assist with general cleaning duties of the department. Perform equipment checks as assigned. Assist in proper recording of patient charges. Respond to calls within 30 minutes. Serve as a mentor to the team and support development of level one technologists. Facilities With Specialty Accreditation Requirements Complete annual required education related to specialty accreditation standards; training may be completed through CBLs, trainings, in-services, and competency validation. Physical Requirements Capable of prolonged periods of standing and walking. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and push/pull heavy loaded carts up to 200 pounds. Possess visual, hearing, and oral acuity along with manual dexterity and technical ability. Ability to wear lead for extended periods of time. Working Environment The work environment is typical of an operating room setting, with a need for focus, teamwork, and adherence to strict safety and sterility protocols.
