Staff Accountant

Our client, a leading consumer brand based in Los Angeles is looking for a Staff Accountant to join their growing team and help lead the accounting function in partnership with the Controller and Vice President. This is a unique opportunity to step into a highly visible role, partner closely with leadership, and work within a fast‑paced and dynamic environment. This role is hybrid in West LA. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting & General Ledger Support: Assist in preparing and maintaining accurate financial records, including journal entries and supporting schedules. Help ensure financial statements are complete and in accordance with GAAP. Month‑End Close: Support the month‑end and year‑end close processes by preparing reconciliations, accruals, and workpapers to ensure timely and accurate reporting. Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process and monitor AP and AR activities, including vendor invoices, payments, billing, and collections. Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and follow up on outstanding items as needed. Reconciliations & Account Maintenance: Perform regular account reconciliations (cash, credit cards, prepaid expenses, and other balance sheet accounts), identifying and resolving discrepancies. COGS & Inventory Support: Assist with tracking and recording cost of goods sold (COGS), including supporting inventory‑related entries and reconciliations. Help ensure accuracy of product costs and alignment between inventory, purchasing, and financial reporting. Internal Controls & Compliance: Follow established accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with internal controls and external requirements. Support audit requests and documentation as needed. Process Improvement & Systems Support: Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency, including assisting with system updates, automation, and documentation of procedures. Must‑Have Qualifications: Experience: Minimum 2‑5+ years of accounting experience working in both the public and private sector. Fashion or consumer industry experience a plus. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in NetSuite or QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel. Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with the capability to collaborate across departments and present financial insights to leadership. Organizational Skills: Highly analytical with excellent organizational and time‑management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities.
