RESPONSIBILITIES OF A PROGRAM COUNSELOR:

Coordinates childcare programs to meet the needs of the community and meet Y objectives. Develops and maintains programs in accordance with organizational and operational plans. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with other community organizations. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff. Ensure records of staff certifications are current and complete; provide training as needed. Organizes and facilitates age-appropriate activities. Supervises and interacts with children at play safely. Market and distribute program information to members and the community at large. Assists in monitoring program budgets to meet fiscal objectives; assists in fund raising. Complies with all Childcare Cabinet responsibilities, including attending meetings as needed. *This is not an exhaustive list of job duties. REQUIREMENTS TO BE A PROGRAM COUNSELOR:

Minimum age of 21. Current CPR certification. Demonstrated ability to provide childcare. Current state approved first-aid certification. Must be able to get certified to drive a minibus. Minimum 2 years' experience working with children. Knowledge and experience in child watch or babysitting including demonstrated ability to provide age-appropriate activities to children, ages 5 to 11 years. Ability to communicate effectively with members, staff peers, volunteers, and supervisor. Ability to effectively communicate information on YMCA programs. Knowledge of staff/volunteer supervision and program management preferred. Flexible schedule availability After School: W: 12:30-6:30pm M, T, Th, & Fri: 2:30-6:30pm
