Summary:

The Senior Employer Partnerships Specialist supports the AU Career Center’s mission by cultivating, expanding, and stewarding high-impact recruiting relationships that translate into internships and full-time opportunities for American University students and recent graduates. As a member of the Employer Relations team, this role manages a defined employer portfolio and recruiting market, delivers best-in-class campus recruiting services, and collaborates with faculty, student-facing career advisors, and campus partners to align employer demand with AU talent.

The Senior Employer Partnerships Specialist leads account strategy for assigned Industry Clusters, facilitates connections between employers, students, and alumni through information sessions, on-campus and virtual recruiting, and other recruiting events.

The Senior Employer Partnerships Specialist also provides reports on outcomes and market trends, and contributes to team-wide programming, communications, and systems.

The Senior Employer Partnerships Specialist co-manages a team of Employer Relations student assistants. This role reports to one of two Associate Directors of Employer Relations and supports cross-coverage and shared priorities across the team.

Essential Functions:

1.) Employer Relationship Development

• In collaboration with the Associate Director, build, grow, and steward a portfolio of employers aligned to assigned Industry Clusters including: International & Global Careers; Government & Policy; and Law, Justice, & Public Safety.

• Evaluate leads for assigned Industry Clusters from a variety of sources, including but not limited to career services management system postings, faculty and staff referrals, internship sites, and external job fairs.

• Conduct frequent phone, e-mail, and in-person meetings to establish and maintain strong relationships with alumni and employers in assigned Industry Clusters.

• Respond to employer and student inquiries related to recruiting and job postings. Maintain high customer service standards.

• Participate in professional industry and networking events to initiate contact with potential employers and stay abreast of hiring and campus recruiting trends related to assigned industry areas.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date relationship management notes in the career services management system.

2.) Recruiting Programs and Event Execution

• Ensure the integrity of the recruiting program by upholding professionalism policies for students as well as employer recruitment policies that align with university and industry standards.

• Adapt recruiting services as needed to align with hiring and campus recruiting trends.

• Stay informed on student interests and academic programs; advise employers on effective recruiting strategies based on organizational needs as well as AU students’ interests and tendencies.

• Use the career services management system to schedule and manage on-campus interviews, employer information sessions and office hours, information tables, site visits and resume books as well as to record student, alumni, and employer participation.

• Coordinate event logistics with campus partners, including scheduling, room setup, audio visual, and catering.

• Staff recruiting events and ensure that appropriate Career Center staff members are aware of recruiting program activities as well as their roles in promoting and implementing the activities.

• Regularly communicate with students regarding scheduling and confirmation of recruiting activities, and respond to all student inquiries in a timely manner.

• Track and analyze participation statistics, outcomes, and qualitative feedback through mid-year and annual reports.

3.) Cross-campus Partnerships, Marketing, and Promotion

• Collaborate with career advising colleagues in the same Industry Clusters to align employer demand with student readiness, including targeted promotion and marketing campaigns.

• Collaborate with the Assistant Director, Marketing and Communications to design and implement marketing plans for recruiting activities, including the dissemination of social and digital media and other collateral.

• Promote recruiting activities to targeted students through e-mail blasts, social media platforms, the master calendar, and other appropriate channels.

• Expand partnerships/collaboration with other offices, academic units, and student groups to raise awareness of and involvement in recruiting activities.

• Liaise with cross-campus colleagues, and in consultation with the Associate Director of Employer relations, to support one or more of several key student populations including international students, first-generation students, students who are veterans, students volunteering in community service, and students with disabilities, by developing and deploying resources and programs to address knowledge gaps.

4.) Data and Systems

• As part of the team, regularly assess and enhance the features and functionality of the Career Center’s contact management system and career management tools for students, alumni, and employers. Prepare for and participate in team meetings.

• Incorporate university-approved AI tools into workflows and develop foundational skills in AI literacy to augment tasks and projects.

• Use the Career Center’s CRM tools to manage employer records, contacts, pipelines, and activity histories.

• Track, analyze, and report on KPIs (employer engagement, event outcomes, job postings, conversion to hires, first-destination outcomes) related to the assigned Industry Clusters and special populations.

• Produce dashboards and fact sheets related to industry clusters to inform stakeholders and colleagues and contribute to action plans.

• Monitor trends in early talent recruiting and regulations affecting hiring aligned with Industry Clusters, and brief stakeholders.

5.) Other Duties as Assigned

• Help the Career Center fulfill its mission by leading and participating in staff meetings, project and hiring committees, and other activities as assigned.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

• Full-time.

• 35 hours per week.

• Hybrid 1 work modality (on campus 3 - 4 days per week).

Salary Range:

• $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 annually.

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree.

• 3 - 5 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Master's degree.

• 4 - 6 years of relevant experience.
