Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room/Surgery

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room/Surgery demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of clinical nursing. This role provides both routine and complex care while contributing to long-term patient care plans. The RN will develop the capability to handle various clinical contingencies and appropriately delegate tasks to enhance patient care.

Responsibilities:

Fulfill the expectations of applicable nursing competencies as a leader in different capacities.
Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
Address the complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families in accordance with their practice level.
Administer medications and treatments per established protocols; monitor for side effects and assess the effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
Document patient histories, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
Assess learning needs of patients and families and provide appropriate education; identify issues and resources for support.

Job Requirements:

Education & Skills:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required (American Heart Association only).
Registered Nurse License in the state of Texas or compact license is required.

Work Schedule:

Multiple shifts are available.

Work Type:
