Overview Performs MRI procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation. May be required to work flexible hours, alternate shifts and weekends, and call as necessary to provide quality patient care at assigned site(s). May be required to flex hours/shift as needed to support the needs of the department. Works as part of a multidisciplinary team. Performs other duties as assigned. Schedule: PRN/As needed Shift: Variable Location: Perryville Clinic Pay Range: $34.45 - $51.68 Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform procedures or examinations under the order of a licensed medical practitioner for diagnostic interpretation. Prepare patient for procedures. Maintain knowledge of current MRI safety practices and utilize such practices as part of daily practice. Assume responsibility for persons entering Zones I-IV. Provide patient instruction to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety. Apply principles and policies of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self and others. Review patients’ clinical history ensuring that appropriate scan is ordered and labs are within range—review with radiologist and/or provider as necessary. Select and operate the magnetic resonance system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results. Report and document MRI safety incidents/adverse events per protocol. Position the patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability, safety and comfort. Immobilize patients as required for appropriate examination. Select appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters. Start and maintain intravenous access, including power injectable implanted ports/specialized lines. Assist with medical record/image sharing as necessary. Operate MRI scanner, associated equipment, and power injector to produce cross-sectional images of patient anatomy for diagnostic purposes. Document all information pertinent to MRI procedure in electronic medical record to include medication reconciliation. Verify consent/screening form for all entering Zone IV. Prepare and administer contrast media orally and intravenously while maintaining aseptic technique. Assist the physician with interventional procedures. Provide practical instruction to students and partners. Evaluate images and data for technical quality. Manipulate and reconstruct digital data for display, ensuring proper identification is evident. Perform independent high-level MRI studies, such as but not limited to all cardiac studies, run-offs, conditional device protocols, and MRI procedural studies. Assume responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures. Use radiology information systems (including PACS), complete all required records and reports, archive and submit images for physician review and interpretation. Initiate basic life support action when necessary. Education and/or Experience Graduate of an accredited radiography program or accredited MRI training program. Minimum One (1) to Three (3) years experience preferred. Will consider new graduates. Certification/Licensure ARRT (MR) if completed the MRI Primary pathway required upon hire OR ARRT (R) with requirement to obtain the MR Credential within two years of hire. ARMRIT Credential required upon hire only if they do not hold ARRT-approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days. Level of Supervision Works independently with limited direct supervision. Supervises: Provides clinical supervision of allied health students and radiology aides.
