Guides new employees, researchers, volunteers, residents, students and other Health Care Workers (HCW)s through the preplacement and annual screening process. Assists with access issues, information collection and management of data, and ensures consistent adherence to applied biosafety laboratory, infection control and EHS/OIC standards. Provides medical surveillance for occupationally based exposures; coordinates and collaborates with other departments, Medical Director, and Source patients to develop and implement a plan of treatment that is appropriate for the employee patient. Coordinates a comprehensive immunization program for employees, and provides employee orientation and education related to occupational illness and injury.

I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Facilitates the entry of new hires into the UMass Memorial Health and/or UMass Chan Medical School and Research Labs and coordinates the retrieval of information and the delivery of the preplacement assessment process in accordance with defined job specific protocols.
2. Assists new hires and current employees in understanding what is needed, options available to them, resources, and the results of all testing.
3. Provides education along the continuum of the process to the new hires and to existing employees.
4. Develops concise status updates to all stakeholders in a manner that protects the patient/employee's HIPAA rights.5. Develops relationships with all key stakeholders for both UMMH and UMCMS as well as affiliate entities.

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education: Required:
1. Current Massachusetts state licensure.
2. Graduate from accredited school of nursing.

Preferred:
1. Bachelor's degree.

Experience/Skills: Required:
1. Minimum of two years' of up to date and progressively responsible nursing experience in Employee Health, Occupational Health, Infection Control or related field.
2. Skilled with utilization of EMR and other software. 3. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred:
1. Excellent phlebotomy skills.
2. Experience in caring for employees with blood borne pathogen exposures.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
