Position Overview This position’s primary function is to support the Chief Engineer in maintaining all guestrooms and guest floors, ensuring the hotel operates at four‑diamond level through direction and supervision. Responsibilities Manage all day‑to‑day operations and prepare maintenance and inspection reports for guestrooms. Direct daily work assignments and ensure completion to quality standards. Inspect completed work orders and guarantee accuracy and compliance with quality expectations. Assist department heads in handling unusual maintenance complaints and resolve guest issues. Ensure completion of all preventive maintenance operations to standard. Assist engineers in diagnosing equipment malfunction problems. Coordinate training programs for painters and espresso engineers. Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the maintenance shop. Maintain guestroom parts storeroom and shop inventories. Attend hotel meetings, remain abreast of in‑house activities, promotions and events; communicate with other departments. Assist supervisors in communicating maintenance requests to engineers. Assist Director of Engineering with ADA compliance in all guest rooms. Administer key‑control system, tool control procedures and credit‑card control. Collaborate with Security Department on repairs and maintenance of electronic/hard key locking systems. Perform periodic inspections of all guestrooms to maintain standard. Train, appraise, coach, counsel and discipline departmental personnel according to Loews standards. Follow New Hire Training and Star Service Competency program in accordance with hotel policy. Demonstrate decisiveness, agility in multitasking and ability to make decisions on imperfect information. Promote teamwork, remain polite, friendly and helpful to guests, management and fellow employees. Attend appropriate hotel meetings and training sessions; comply with safety regulations and procedures. Comply with hotel and department standards, policies and rules, uniform and grooming standards. Maintain cleanliness and condition of equipment and work area, recycle whenever possible. Execute emergency procedures in accordance with hotel standards. Qualifications Three to five years as an engineering supervisor in a hospitality environment (preferred). Working knowledge of Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Refrigeration and Life Safety operating systems. Ability to read and interpret architectural blue‑line drawings. Knowledge of OSHA regulations, equipment operation and maintenance and record‑keeping systems. Effective management, leadership, organizational and communication skills. Knowledge of computer‑based management systems such as Windows, Office and Espresso. Ability to work flexible schedules to include weekends and holidays.
