Financial Aid Advisor

Job Description Germanna Community College is a public, open‑access institution in the Virginia Community College System. The College seeks a part‑time Financial Aid Advisor to work in the Financial Aid Office at the Locust Grove Campus. The successful candidate will provide direct assistance and support services to staff and students in‑person, virtually, and by phone. Primary responsibilities include: Assist students and families with financial aid options. Process federal, state, and institutional financial aid applications and files in accordance with applicable regulations. Maintain accurate records and documentation for all financial aid activities. Coordinate with other college offices to resolve financial aid issues. Provide guidance on financial aid policies to internal stakeholders. Some travel to other college locations may be required. Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. Qualifications Ability to work independently and analytically, exercising discretion and good judgment. Ability to handle a complex, detail‑oriented workload. Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Commitment to working with colleagues, students, and community members. Additional Considerations Experience in a post‑secondary education setting, preferably in a community college financial aid office. Required Travel Travel between campuses may be required.
