About the Position

Job Title: Physical Therapist Profession: Rehabilitation Therapy Specialty: Physical Therapist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 40 hours per week Hours per Shift: 30 min. to 1 hour unpaid lunch, clinic hours are Monday to Friday 7 am to 6 pm and Saturday 8 am Experience: Minimum 1 year in adult outpatient rehab License: Active Alaska license required Certifications: Current Basic Life Support certification required; Valid Driver's license required Must-Have: Flu vaccinations required Description: Provides general physical therapy evaluations and treatments impacting patient functional abilities. Oversees and directs the work of physical therapist assistants and/or other designated staff members. Provides physical therapy evaluations and treatments to a wide range of ages with varying diagnoses and issues. Performs assessment, identifies therapy diagnoses, formulates therapy treatment plans with goals, and implements services. Implements, supervises, and modifies therapy plans of care based on assessment of patient response to optimize outcomes. Reviews clinical records and case histories. Attends care conferences and regular meetings, remaining in contact with referring providers and other healthcare professionals. Collaborates with team members to assure appropriate medical equipment is arranged and care plans established prior to discharge. Documents patient encounter findings and treatments, including diagnoses, treatment plans, recommendations, and prognoses. Provides services in a timely manner and according to regulatory requirements. Works with in-patient and out-patient populations in various settings as assigned. Directs the work of support staff, students, or interns. Facilitates a healthcare partnership between providers, patients, and their families. Develops and conducts patient education and therapy programs based on patient and/or family needs. Provides patients and families clear home exercise programs to achieve optimal rehabilitative potential. Ensures instructions are understood by asking for feedback and return demonstrations from patients or caregivers. Advises patients and family members in methods that facilitate self-care and independence. Creates clear and concise home programs and ensures understanding through feedback and demonstration. Assists senior staff in administrative matters, clinic operations, and specialty/research areas as appropriate. Utilizes the hospital computer system to obtain patient information and stay informed of directives. Participates in efficient information flow via email and other digital platforms as appropriate. Provides summary of results, statistics, and metrics as required by management. Assists in the acquisition and fitting of durable medical equipment/devices based on patient needs. Communicates with supervisors and providers to measure, fit, and deliver equipment and maintains appropriate stock levels. Maintains supply stocks and clinical equipment at acceptable levels. Remains current in billing procedures to aid in reimbursement of services. Maintains cleanliness of clinical space. Educates staff on physical therapy-related issues and informs patients/families about their functional limitations and goals. Assists in committee and management duties and represents the rehabilitation services department as requested. Provides therapy consultations, presentations, and in-services to medical staff and other interdisciplinary healthcare personnel. Adheres to regulatory and practice standards set by professional associations. Follows confidentiality and quality assurance standards. Participates in quality management functions and utilizes principles in all aspects of the job. Performs other duties as assigned.
