VIAVI employees are passionate about supporting customer success and we welcome people who bring their best every day to the company – to question, to collaborate and to push for solutions that will delight our customers.Duties & Responsibilities: Design and implement optical interference filters which meet customer requirements in a wide range of applications, such as consumer electronics, bio medical devices, gas monitoring, fluorescence microscopy, astronomy, light sensing, projection display, quantum optics.Develop and/or improve materials and processes for manufacturing of optical coatings.The assignment will encompass optical coating design, substrate preparation, substrate / wafer handling, vacuum-based coating processes such as sputter deposition, post-coating optical metrology, and other processes.Improve understanding of interaction between different coating materials.Interacting with customers to understand their requirements and develop optical coatings / filters meeting their needs in a timely manner. Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements: Required Qualifications:Minimum B.S. in Material Science, Physical, Electrical, or Optical Engineering or related field.Excellent communication, presentation, and interaction skills.Analytical thinker; detail oriented; problem solver.Proficient with computers: strong proficiency with MS Excel and OfficeExperience in Thin Film Deposition, vacuum processes, and opticsAt least 5 years of experienceMust be U.S. Persons as defined by ITAR.
