The Community Service Board of Middle Georgia is seeking a qualified individual to serve as our next Certified Peer Specialist-Youth/Peer Support Worker for our IC3 (Intensive Customized Care Coordination) program! The selected candidate will be a professional individual with lived experience who is passionate about supporting youth and young adults as they work toward their recovery and wellness goals.

• Support individuals in articulating personal goals for recovery and wellness.
• Support individuals in identifying the objectives necessary to reach their recovery and wellness goals.
• Use lived experience appropriately to provide hope, encouragement, support, and advocacy to youth and young adults.
• Establish and maintain relationships with peers based on mutuality, common connection, trust, and respect.
• Assist youth in identifying their strengths, needs, interests, and available supports.
• Link individuals with community resources and other members of their support team to assist them in reaching their recovery and wellness goals.
• Work collaboratively with Care Coordinators, clinicians, families, natural supports, and other members of the treatment team.
• Assist youth and families with identifying and accessing appropriate behavioral health and community resources.
• Support youth in developing self-advocacy, problem-solving, coping, and independent living skills.
• Provide support to youth transitioning from higher levels of care and assist with connecting them to appropriate community-based services and supports.
• Participate in Child and Family Team meetings and other team meetings as appropriate.
• Document progress notes by assisting peers in identifying strengths, recovery and wellness goals, setting objectives, identifying barriers, recognizing and reporting progress toward identified objectives, and understanding and utilizing appropriate interventions to support peers in meeting their recovery and wellness goals.
• Complete required documentation within established timeframes and maintain accurate service records.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow all CSBMG, DBHDD, HIPAA, and program requirements.
• Participate in required training, supervision, staff meetings, and other activities necessary to support quality service delivery.
• Maintain professional boundaries while appropriately utilizing personal lived experience in the peer support role.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Lived experience dealing with a behavioral health diagnosis, substance use, or co-occurring behavioral health condition.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Georgia Driver’s License.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse communities.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with youth, young adults, families, and members of the treatment team.
• Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
• Ability to appropriately use lived experience to support youth and young adults.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 Office Products.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines accordingly.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain required peer support certification and training.

• Previous experience in behavioral health, substance use, or working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Previous experience working with youth, young adults, families, or individuals receiving community-based behavioral health services.
• Experience providing peer support, mentoring, advocacy, or recovery-oriented services.
• Experience working with individuals transitioning from inpatient, residential, crisis, juvenile justice, or other higher levels of care.
• Knowledge of local behavioral health and community resources.
• Strong resource navigation and advocacy skills.
• Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary or Child and Family Team.
• Experience with electronic health records and behavioral health documentation.
• Already hold one of the following certifications: CPS-Y, CPS-MH, CPS-AD, or CARES.
• Experience using personal lived experience in a safe, professional, and recovery-oriented manner.
• Demonstrated ability to build rapport and engage youth who may be difficult to engage in traditional services.
