On‑Call Archaeological Monitors/Field Technicians - Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino & Kern Counties Petra Resource Management (PRM) is seeking qualified On‑Call Archaeological Monitors/Field Technicians to support a growing portfolio of projects across Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Kern counties. Work includes monitoring, pedestrian survey, and testing under a range of federal, state, and local compliance frameworks. This position is ideal for CRM professionals who want flexible, project‑based field assignments across diverse environments — from urban infrastructure corridors to high‑desert utility projects. Position Overview On‑Call Archaeological Field Technicians will support field operations for projects conducted under: Federal regulations (NHPA/Section 106, NEPA) State and local compliance (CEQA, PRC, county/city permitting) Utility and infrastructure clients (transmission, distribution, telecom, water, gas) Municipal and county agencies Assignments span single‑day survey, testing, or monitoring through extended, long‑term fieldwork, depending on project needs and technician availability. Key Responsibilities Perform pedestrian survey, shovel test pits, and limited subsurface testing. Document field conditions, stratigraphy, and any cultural materials encountered. Maintain accurate daily logs, photo records, and GIS/GPS data. Communicate effectively with PRM project managers, construction personnel, tribal monitors, and agency representatives. Follow all inadvertent discovery protocols and regulatory requirements. Uphold PRM’s standards for professionalism, safety, and client communication. Minimum Qualifications BA/BS in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field. 1+ year of CRM field experience (monitoring, survey, or testing). Familiarity with CEQA, NHPA/Section 106, and standard CRM field methods. Ability to work outdoors in variable conditions and terrain. Reliable transportation and willingness to travel across the listed counties. Strong written communication and documentation skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience on Caltrans, BLM, USFS, DoD, or utility projects. Experience coordinating with tribal monitors. Proficiency with GPS units, tablets, ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123, or similar GIS field tools. Experience in desert, foothill, and urban CRM contexts.
