Grounds Custodian

Grounds Custodian PositionPalmyra Area School District is seeking applicants for a full-time Grounds Custodian. The Grounds Custodian will primarily focus on the maintenance of turf fields, turf house, athletic fields, and exteriors of all of our buildings. This is a full-time 40-hour per week position and will have a varied schedule based upon preparation for athletic events and event schedules. If no events are scheduled, grounds work will primarily daytime hours but would need to also be available for evenings and weekend events if the turf is being used. The schedule would be determined weekly based on events. If offered a position, upon completion of all required employment paperwork, you may begin to work immediately!Qualifications for our full-time Grounds Custodian position:Must be at least 18 years of age or olderMust be able to provide the required clearances for Pennsylvania - and they are paid for by Palmyra Area School District! PA Child Abuse Clearance PA Criminal Clearance FBI ClearanceMust be able to work independently with or without supervisionHourly pay rate of $16.49 - $19.79 depending upon experienceWorking hours: Weekly schedule may be adjusted to accommodate evening and weekend events for our turf fieldsPaid holidays; if work is available on a paid holiday the pay is time and a halfOvertime hours availableMust be able to report for snow removalMust possess a positive attitude, be energetic, be a team player and take pride in your workResponsibilities for our Grounds Custodian position:Grounds maintenance to include, but not limited to: mowing, trimming, weeding, mulching, power washing, fertilizing, lining of athletic fields, and maintenance of the turf fieldsPotential of pool chemical testing (certification will be required, which the District will pay the applicant to attend classes to gain certification)Cleaning classrooms, offices, bathrooms, hallways/stairwells, multi-purpose rooms, windows, etc.Daily trash removalAthletic event set-up and tear downMinor maintenance fixes/work ordersTransferring items to different locations within the buildings, including lifting boxesSummer cleaning as assignedBenefits of being a Custodian:All required clearances are paid for by Palmyra Area School DistrictPaid vacation days and holidaysReceive 10 paid sick days annually, which can accumulate from year-to-year if they are not usedA $20,000 life insurance policy provided at no cost to the employeeAmazing family benefits - medical, dental, vision, and prescription benefits - are provided by PASD with two (2) medical plans for employees to choose from!Palmyra Area School District will pay the full cost of tuition and any reasonable expenses for courses, workshops, seminars, conferences, or in-service training sessions (up to $1,200/year)Employees will have a pension through the Pennsylvania School Employee Retirement System (PSERS)Employees are eligible to participate in 403(b) and Roth 403(b) programs
