Psychiatrist

PsychiatristA Psychiatrist is responsible for providing specific psychiatric/physician related activities within the outpatient setting. There is direct work with adults/children receiving services along with professional consultative, supervisor and administrative duties.Essential FunctionsPsychiatric EvaluationsMedication ReviewsReview labs, case documents, health care plans, and behavior plansProvide physician supervision of clinical services as defined in the Medicaid Manual (MSA Bulletin), Chapter IIICollaborate with CMH staff and the interdisciplinary teamCollaborate with PCP and other specialized medical servicesConsult with CMH administration on programmatic decisionsBe available to testify in court proceedings as neededMinimum QualificationsDoctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited universityPsychiatry ResidencyCertification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or possession of Board eligibility statusCurrent licensure to practice medicine in the State of MichiganCurrent DEA licensureExperience/SkillsDemonstrated ability to work with an electronic record system and e-prescribe programChild/Adolescent Experience and willingness to work with this populationCommitment to ethical standards in working with staff, consumers, and members of the communityKnowledge of the applicable provisions of the Mental Health Code of MichiganExperience providing psychiatric evaluations, medication evaluations, and medication monitoring in an outpatient setting and experience providing emergency psychiatric careOtherProvide psychiatric services according to the schedule established by the AgencyPreferred QualificationsBoard Certified in Child and Adolescent PsychiatryExperience/Interest in Substance Use Disorder TreatmentDemonstrated ability to utilize DSM VKnowledge of mental health treatment procedures applicable to public mental health populationsKnowledge of evidence based treatment related to mental health treatment including prescribing of medication
