Evansville Manor a skilled nursing facility in the Eden Senior Care Network, is now hiring a Cook!
Position: Cook (Full-time)Split Shift: Mix of 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM 11:30 AM - 7:30 PM
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve meals and snacks according to approved menus, standardized recipes, and resident diet orders.
- Prepare therapeutic and modified-texture diets, including diabetic, renal, cardiac, low-sodium, mechanical soft, chopped, ground, and pureed meals.
- Ensure meals are properly portioned, accurately prepared, and served on time at the correct temperature.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, infection control, and cross-contamination prevention practices.
- Assist with tray line and meal service, ensuring trays are complete and accurate.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils.
- Properly label, date, store, and rotate food using FIFO procedures.
- Monitor food inventory, assist with deliveries, and report shortages or waste.
- Complete required temperature logs and other dietary documentation.
- Work closely with dietary aides, nursing staff, and dietary management to ensure residents' dietary needs are met.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous cooking experience, preferably in an institutional, healthcare, or long-term care setting.
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and large-volume food preparation.
- Familiarity with therapeutic diets, food allergies, and modified food textures.
- Ability to read and follow menus, recipes, and diet orders accurately.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
