Position Overview

Folio Clinical Research is seeking an experienced Urology Nurse Practitioner to join our team in Arlington, TX, supporting both an active urology clinic and the industry-sponsored clinical trials conducted within it.

You’ll be embedded at the Arlington clinic of a large, multi-site North Texas urology group. It is a full-spectrum practice covering prostate cancer, BPH, stones, bladder and kidney conditions, male sexual health, and female pelvic health, with an advanced minimally-invasive BPH program and in-house prostate cancer diagnostics. This is a busy, broad clinical environment with deep physician bench strength, not a solo office.

This is a urology role first. We are looking for a Nurse Practitioner who already knows urologic disease, already runs a full urology clinic day, and is comfortable across the range of in-office genitourinary procedures, including phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement. Prior clinical research experience is welcome but is not required — we will train the right urology clinician on GCP, protocol conduct, and the Sub-Investigator role, along with any protocol- or practice-specific procedures.

What You’ll Do

Urologic Clinical Care

• Evaluate and manage adult urology patients across the practice’s clinical population, including BPH and prostate disorders, urologic cancers, overactive bladder and urinary incontinence, urinary stone disease, recurrent UTI, Peyronie’s disease, erectile dysfunction, and hypogonadism / low testosterone.
• Obtain comprehensive histories and perform genitourinary physical examinations; order and interpret laboratory studies, urinalysis and culture, imaging, and diagnostic testing.
• Develop and adjust treatment plans in partnership with the collaborating physician; prescribe and manage medications within Texas scope of practice.
• Provide patient education and longitudinal follow-up for chronic urologic conditions.

Procedures

• Perform phlebotomy and place peripheral IV lines independently.
• Perform in-office urologic procedures independently following appropriate training and credentialing. Depending on protocol and practice need, these may include urethral catheterization and difficult catheter placement, bladder scanning and post-void residual measurement, uroflowmetry and urodynamic studies, intravesical instillations, intracavernosal injections, testosterone injections and pellet insertion, and procedural support for cystoscopy and prostate biopsy.
• Administer investigational and standard-of-care medications by oral, IM, SQ, and IV routes.
• Collect, process, and prepare specimens for shipment per protocol and laboratory requirements.
• Maintain current competency and training documentation for all delegated procedures.

Clinical Trial Support (Training Provided)

• Serve as Sub-Investigator on assigned trials following onboarding and delegation; perform tasks delegated on the FDA Form 1572 and delegation log.
• Conduct participant screening and eligibility assessments; perform protocol-required physical examinations and study-specific assessments.
• Obtain and document informed consent once trained and delegated; ensure participants understand the nature, risks, and benefits of participation.
• Assess, document, and report adverse events (AEs) and serious adverse events (SAEs), including causality assessment, with Principal Investigator oversight.
• Reconcile concomitant medications and identify potential drug interactions or protocol deviations.
• Support identification, screening, and enrollment of study participants from the practice’s existing urology patient population.

Documentation, Regulatory & Compliance

• Maintain accurate, contemporaneous source documentation and complete case report forms (CRFs) in line with Good Documentation Standards.
• Complete all required GCP, protocol-specific, and sponsor-mandated training in a timely manner.
• Support site initiation visits, interim monitoring visits, sponsor queries, and audits.
• Adhere to ICH-GCP, FDA and IRB requirements, HIPAA, and applicable practice and site policies.

Collaboration & Site Operations

• Partner with the Principal Investigator, VP of Clinical Operations, the CRC team, and practice clinical staff to keep clinic and trial activity running smoothly.
• Participate in sponsor calls, investigator meetings, and internal team meetings.
• Serve as a urologic clinical resource for research coordinators and support staff.

What We’ll Train You On

If you are strong in urology but new to research, this is the part we teach:

• ICH-GCP and the FDA regulations that govern industry-sponsored trials (21 CFR Parts 11, 50, 56, 312)
• Protocol conduct, source documentation, and CRF completion
• The Sub-Investigator role, FDA Form 1572, and delegation of authority
• AE and SAE assessment, causality, and reporting timelines
• EDC, CTMS, and eTMF platforms used across the Folio network
• Study-specific procedures, assessments, and endpoints

Qualifications

Licensure & Certification

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited program (CCNE or ACEN).
• Current, active, and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (APRN) licensure in the State of Texas.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Texas.
• Active DEA registration and prescriptive authority in Texas.
• National board certification in area of NP specialty (ANCC, AANP, or equivalent).
• Current BLS/CPR certification.
• No current or pending National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) reports.

Clinical Experience & Skills

• 3+ years of NP practice, including at least 1 recent year in dedicated urology (within the past two years). 2+ years of urology preferred.
• Primary care or general practice with incidental urology exposure does not qualify.
• Working knowledge of urologic conditions, procedures, medications, and terminology across the range treated by the practice.
• Demonstrated ability to perform phlebotomy and peripheral IV insertion independently, without additional training.
• Comfort performing genitourinary examinations and in-office urologic procedures in a predominantly male adult patient population.
• Ability to perform delegated clinical and study procedures independently once trained and credentialed.
• Ability to manage a full clinic day alongside concurrent research responsibilities and shifting priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain clinical and research concepts to patients of diverse backgrounds.
• Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior clinical research experience in any capacity — Sub-Investigator, site-based support, or coordinator-adjacent. Not required.
• Familiarity with GCP guidelines, FDA regulations, or IRB processes.
• Experience with urology-specific endpoints and assessments (e.g., IPSS, uroflowmetry, PSA, urodynamics, IIEF/SHIM).
• Experience with EDC, CTMS, or eTMF systems; familiarity with CRIO a plus.
• Completion of CITI Program training (Human Subjects Research and/or GCP modules).
• Certification in clinical research: CCRC or CCRP (ACRP or SOCRA), or equivalent.
• Experience in an office-based urology practice or ambulatory procedure setting.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus given the Texas patient population.

Work Environment

This is an on-site, full-time position based at the affiliated urology practice in Arlington, TX. The role involves direct patient contact and requires the ability to stand, perform physical examinations, and carry out clinical and study procedures throughout the workday. Schedule is Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts. Occasional travel to sponsor meetings, investigator meetings, or conferences may be required.
