Position Overview
Chestnut Hill Allergy & Asthma Associates is seeking a dependable, organized, and patient-focused Medical Billing & Coding / Receptionist to join our growing allergy and asthma specialty practice. This role combines front desk responsibilities with medical billing and coding duties to help provide a smooth and positive patient experience from check-in through claim processing.
The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and has experience with insurance verification, medical billing, and customer service.
Responsibilities
Front Desk / Reception Duties
- Greet and check in patients in a friendly and professional manner
- Answer incoming phone calls and assist patients with scheduling, questions, and referrals
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary authorizations/referrals
- Collect copays, balances, and update patient demographics
- Manage appointment scheduling and reminder calls
- Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
Billing & Coding Duties
- Submit and follow up on medical insurance claims
- Review EOBs and resolve claim denials or billing discrepancies
- Post insurance and patient payments accurately
- Verify coding accuracy for office visits, procedures, testing, and biologic medications
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status and authorizations
- Assist with accounts receivable and patient billing questions
- Maintain knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and insurance guidelines
Qualifications
- Previous experience in medical billing, coding, or medical reception preferred
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
- Experience with EMR/EHR (eClinicalWorks) preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and work independently
- Professional, compassionate, and team-oriented attitude
- Allergy, asthma, or specialty office experience is a plus
$21 per hour
