Producer

Theatre Puget Sound

The Producer(s) at Cascade Community Theatre (CCT) wear many hats and serve as the backbone of the production. At CCT, CCT acts as an “Executive Producer” providing some Producer duties while an individual “Show Producer” handles the rest of the duties. Their primary duties include:

  1. Budget Management: CCT funds the show and provides a budget template. However, it’s the Show Producer’s responsibility to ensure the production stays within budget.
  2. Fundraising & Sponsorships: CCT finds local businesses, patrons, or organizations to sponsor or donate to the production. The Show Producer may assist with this, but CCT is ultimately responsible for this. Note, this is not done for all shows.
  3. Scheduling: The Show Producer schedules rehearsals, performances, and other events, as well as manages deadlines for set construction, costume design, and more.
  4. Team Assembly: The Show Producer recruits the actors, technical crew, designers, and other staff while fostering collaboration among the team. CCT may assist with this, but the show producer is ultimately responsible for this.
  5. Securing Rights & Contracts: CCT ensures legal permissions are obtained for the play and contracts are signed with team members. The producer may assist with this.
  6. Marketing & Publicity: The producer promotes the show through newsletters, flyers, social media, and other platforms to bring in audiences. It is recommended a marketing volunteer is added to the team to assist with this. CCT may assist with this as well, but the producer is ultimately responsible.
  7. Logistical Oversight: The Show Producer manages the rehearsal venue, props, costumes, and equipment, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
  8. Problem-Solving: The Show Producer is responsible for addressing any challenges or emergencies that arise during the production process.
  9. Audience Engagement: CCT is responsible for building relationships with the community to increase support and attendance for the theatre.
  10. Day of Show: CCT is responsible for ensuring the Events team has volunteers and all logistics planned for front of house at the performances.
Submission Instructions Previous Producer experience desired but not required. CCT can assist and mentor as needed. Other Details This role is specifically to be the Producer for our production of 'A Gilbert & Sullivan Christmas Carol'. Auditions will be held in August or September. Rehearsals will begin in September or October. Shows run from December 18th - 27th. We do pay a one-time $250 honorarium for the role. Active membership and profile required to apply through this system. #J-18808-Ljbffr Theatre Puget Sound
