Medical Lab Scientist
This position involves conducting point-of-care testing and performing clerical duties as assigned by nursing and lab management to support laboratory operations. This role includes working 7 days on followed by 7 days off, with daily shifts from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
Assignment Details
- Location: Taylorsville, UT
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (possible extension to 26 weeks)

- Number of Treatment Rooms: 10
- Lab Team: 8 Lab Technologists
- Equipment Used: Siemens Dimension EXL, Sysmex 1000, Roche Clineteck, Werfen Top 300, Quidel Triage, Siemens ePOC, Abbott iSTAT, Veritor FLU, Quidel SOFIA COVID-19, Aerospray stainer
- EMR System: EPIC
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Responsibilities
- Perform daily maintenance, quality control, calibrations on analyzers, and patient testing, including waived and non-waived tests.
- Process specimens: order tests, centrifuge specimens, prepare send-outs for transport as needed, stock lab supplies, and conduct routine cleaning of lab surfaces.
Qualifications
- Required: Certification as a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) or Medical Lab Technician (MLT) through ASCP or an equivalent certification. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital laboratory environment.
- Preferred: Experience with EPIC EMR. Familiarity with the analyzers listed above.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess a professional demeanor, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently while interfacing with clinical staff in the emergency department.
Dress Code
Scrubs should be pewter in color. A lab coat will be provided for the position.
Policies
Adherence to standard laboratory safety protocols as required by CLIA and CAP is mandatory in this role.
