The Role Provide general branch support by filling in for vacations, absences, peak workloads, etc. at various branch locations, performing a variety of job roles as needed. Willing and able to travel to various local branch locations, providing assistance where needed. (All travel expenses are reimbursed). Friendly interaction with customers and co-workers daily. Provide a great customer experience by supporting all functional areas of service and operations at our branches including assisting customers at the counter, filling customer orders, receiving and putting away material, general warehouse functions, delivering to customer job sites if needed. Requirements Essential Duties and Responsibilities Accurately and timely fill customer orders as needed by retrieving requested material. Check in and put away material, verifying quantities and quality of received material. Maintain clear aisles and walkways. Ensure material is properly organized. Accurately and safely load & unload trucks as needed. Accurately and timely perform cycle counts as required. Performs functions as back-up delivery driver whenever required, delivering material timely and accurately, providing excellent customer service, operating vehicle in a safe manner, maintaining appropriate licensing and medical clearance (if applicable). Perform vehicle and/or forklift inspections as required. Participate in ongoing education and training as required. Continuously update product knowledge through any available resources in order to provide assistance at the counter. Stay informed and educated as to product inventory and applicability. Know location of merchandise in warehouse. As needed, promptly assist customers at counter. Ask pertinent questions, provide information they may need. Conduct sales efforts in an ethical and professional manner. Maintain positive attitude towards customers and co-workers by being friendly and courteous. Enter customer orders, branch transfers, obtain quotation information, inventory information, pricing utilizing company software package. Follow-up on customer orders, resolve problems to the customer’s satisfaction, respond timely to customer. Answer telephones professionally and pleasantly, assisting customers, taking orders and providing excellent customer service. Effectively communicate to customers any relevant policies and/or procedures regarding purchases, returns, credit terms, etc. Assist in maintaining appearance of branch as needed, straightening, cleaning counter area, warehouse, bathrooms, etc. Perform all duties in a safe manner, following all safety rules. Inform manager of any potentially hazardous conditions. Assist in year-end physical inventories as requested. Perform other responsibilities as directed. Desired skills and abilities Preferred candidate will have a baseline knowledge of Electrical and/or Plumbing parts and materials in order to assist customers at the counter. Able to effectively juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities. Strong attention to detail. Strong problem-solving skills. Effective time management, organization skills. Great people skills to deal with many customers, fellow associates. Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Flexibility in being able to ‘change gears” quickly. Strong work ethic, including dependability in attendance and task completion. Ability to exude professionalism, tact, diplomacy and sensitivity when dealing with customers, employees, internal associates at all levels. Capable of preserving confidential or sensitive information. Team player, able to work well under pressure. Basic computer aptitude. Physical Requirements Regularly required to stand, sit, walk; use hands and arms to finger, handle, feel, reach or carry. Occasionally required climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Frequently required to lift up to 25 lbs. Regularly required to lift up to 50 lbs. Occasionally required to lift up to 100 lbs. Must be able to safely tolerate heat in the summer and cold in the winter. Regularly required to talk and hear; read and identify numbers. Regularly required to apply sound reasoning and logic in performing daily tasks. Required to be able to safely operate a forklift, pallet jack and/or wire-cutting machine. Required to be able to meet the attendance requirements of the role - Full-time, 40 hour per week schedule.
