Biometrics (Fingerprint) Technician - On Call

Overview Opportunity to work with the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) as a Biometric Technician (BT) at the Application Support Center (ASC) in Hauppauge, NY. This casual on‑call position requires availability Monday‑Friday 7:45am‑4:15pm for substitute coverage. The role involves providing front‑line customer service, biometrics data capture, crowd control, and administrative duties to support USCIS operations. Responsibilities Complete biometrics registration for applicants seeking legal immigration to the United States. Ensure all entrants are approved applicants and visitors, enforce ASC rules and policies, and provide interior and exterior crowd control. Provide front‑line customer service as representatives of Amentum and the United States Government. Safeguard areas vulnerable to personal identifiable information (PII) such as applicant paperwork, electronic biometric data, and reports. Perform quality biometrics processing including capturing electronic fingerprints, photographs, and signatures within established program‑wide processing times. Screen applicants entering the facility to verify valid appointment notice and identification. Use crowd control barriers (stanchions or rails) to ensure safe entry into the facility. Visually inspect applicants and belongings prior to entry; assess health status during pandemics or other crises and deny entry if required. Conduct periodic interior and exterior facility checks, report concerns to site supervisor. Assist site supervisor or immigration service officer in contacting local law enforcement or first responders when necessary. Maintain accurate administrative paperwork such as biometrics processing logs, reconciliation paperwork, visitor control log, and facility check sign‑offs. Required Qualifications US Citizenship required for facility credentials/authorization. High School Diploma or equivalent. Speak and write English fluently. Stand upright on one’s feet for the scheduled shift duration, excluding meals and breaks. Hold and grasp applicant’s hands to obtain quality fingerprints. Work in a high‑paced environment with the public. Basic computer typing and skills. Successfully complete biometrics training and become certified within sixty days.
