Program Manager - Transformation Delivery (Large-Scale Complex Initiatives) - Hybrid

Overview Independently leads multi-disciplinary teams through large-scale complex transformational change initiatives or strategically important short-term engagements for senior management that deliver business outcomes. Provides independent advising and supports internal stakeholders on transformation delivery, execution, and strategy, utilizing expertise in program/project management, scope definition, process re‑engineering, organizational change management, performance measurement, and customer experience. Primary Responsibilities Lead multi-disciplinary teams through large-scale transformational change initiatives or short-term engagements that deliver business outcomes. Manage and drive implementation of governance frameworks to align across the bank with its strategy. Provide transparency to senior leadership about progress of initiatives. Develop and tailor communications content and artifacts for various organizational levels with high attention to detail and quality. Ensure follow‑up on all critical items and drive accountability through documentation. Build credibility with teams, leveraging business acumen and curiosity to support organizational understanding. Leverage and encourage use of multiple Transformation Delivery Tools to capture, document, and escalatie risks, decisions, and issues. Build relationships and engage senior stakeholders to foster collaboration, information sharing, and effective outcome delivery. Establish relationships across the organization to reduce silos and stay connected to changes. Educate team members using deep institutional knowledge of M&T’s people, processes, products, and technologies. Lead work groups and individuals with diverse views to develop strategic recommendations and encourage innovation. Set pace and drive accountability with senior leaders to drive decisions and provide execution certainty. Encourage the team to champion new transformation delivery tools and techniques, and apply resourcing and prioritization to allocate best resources. Support defining outcomes and key measures of success for transformation initiatives. Promote a culture of challenging status quo, fostering innovation and improvement, and recommend adoption solutions across the organization. Mentor and coach Enterprise Transformation Delivery team members and other team members to take ownership of their development. Understand and adhere to the company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with risk appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk; identify issues needing escalation to management. Promote an inclusive environment reflecting the M&T Bank brand. Maintain internal control standards, implement audit points with any issues raised by external regulators. Complete other related duties as assigned. Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities May manage a team. Education and Experience Required Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7 years of work experience, or a combined minimum of 11 years of higher education and/or work experience, including at least 7 years of work experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Detail-oriented. Proven intellectual curiosity. Proven leadership skills. Demonstrated cognitive bandwidth. Education and Experience Preferred Relevant financial services industry experience preferred. Minimum 5 years of project, program, or portfolio management experience, specifically with large-scale transformation projects. Prior experience leading organizational change. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university; MBA or MS preferred. Certifications: PMP, Agile, SAFe, Certified BA and/or ScrumMaster. Prior management consulting or comparable client service experience a plus. Work Model & Office Locations This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring onsite presence four days per week at one of M&T Bank’s regional offices. The pay range for this position is $107,500.00 - $179,100.00 per year (USD). Compensation will be informed by the candidate’s knowledge, skills, and experience.
