As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced BCBA Clinical Assessor to help strengthen clinical quality, consistency, and outcomes across our organization. Position Summary The BCBA Clinical Assessor is a centralized clinical role focused on initial assessments, reassessment for quality assurance, authorization support, RBT competency development, and organization-wide clinical quality initiatives. Unlike a traditional clinic-based BCBA position, this role does not carry a standard ongoing caseload. Instead, the position provides clinical expertise and support across Training Wheels ABA locations, partnering closely with BCBAs, Clinical Directors, Intake, Authorization, RCM, and leadership to ensure high-quality clinical care, strong documentation, and consistent clinical standards. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive initial ABA assessments including caregiver interviews, direct observations, review of clinical records, and appropriate standardized assessments; develop individualized treatment recommendations and payer-ready assessment reports. Support clinical handoffs by communicating assessment findings, treatment priorities, and recommendations with families and assigned treatment teams. Review BCBA reassessments for quality and medical necessity, providing actionable feedback to strengthen documentation and ensure payer and organizational requirements are met. Support authorization and peer-to-peer reviews, including clinical appeals, denials, partial approvals, and reductions in requested services. Partner with Authorization and RCM teams to identify payer trends and develop strategies to strengthen clinical documentation and authorization outcomes. Support RBT training and competency development, including competency assessments, clinical skills training, coaching, and development of training resources. Provide clinical consultation and mentorship to BCBAs, Clinical Directors, and other clinical team members, including support with complex cases and treatment-planning challenges. Support clinical continuity and organizational growth through clinical coverage, new program or clinic launches, and interdisciplinary collaboration as needed. Lead and support clinical quality initiatives, including development of assessment tools, clinical resources, SOPs, and standardized processes. Monitor clinical quality and documentation trends to identify opportunities for training, process improvement, and greater consistency across locations. Qualifications Required Current BCBA certification in good standing. Active state licensure where required. Master's degree or higher in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or a related field. Experience conducting comprehensive ABA assessments and developing treatment recommendations. Strong understanding of medical necessity and ABA authorization requirements. Experience writing and reviewing clinical documentation for insurance-funded ABA services. Strong knowledge of BACB standards, ethical requirements, and evidence-based ABA practices. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail. Ability to provide constructive feedback and collaborate effectively with clinicians at varying levels of experience. Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deadlines across locations and departments. Preferred Qualifications Experience reviewing or auditing BCBA assessments and reassessments. Experience with peer-to-peer reviews, authorization appeals, or payer discussions. Experience with RBT training and competency assessments. Experience developing clinical SOPs, templates, training materials, or quality assurance processes. Multi-site or multi-clinic ABA experience. Experience supporting organizational growth, new clinic launches, or clinical process standardization. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is an experienced BCBA with strong clinical judgment, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for improving the quality and consistency of ABA services. You should enjoy working across teams and locations, providing meaningful clinical feedback, solving complex problems, and developing systems that help clinicians succeed. This role is a great fit for someone who wants to use their clinical expertise beyond a traditional caseload and have a broader impact on clinical quality across an organization.
