Paraprofessional II – 12 Months (South Coast Ed Collab SHINE Academy at D‑R Regional High School) South Coast Educational Collaborative SHINE Academy – Dighton, Massachusetts Starting Date: Jul 6, 2026 Program Overview The South Coast Educational Collaborative Shine Academy at Dighton Rehoboth High School is an inclusionary program that aims to prepare students with moderate to severe disabilities to be productive citizens in their local communities. This program serves students in grades 9 through 12 with diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, moderate to severe cognitive delays, sensory processing and communication challenges, neuromotor deficits and/or medical challenges. Transition programming is the cornerstone of the curriculum at this site. Students participate in community‑based vocational, recreational, and independent living activities each day. Students also receive classroom‑based instruction that addresses the goals in their Individualized Educational Program (IEP) and reinforces the learning that takes place in community‑based settings. Educators incorporate research‑based best practices with supports provided by embedded professional development, technical assistance, and a network of expert consultants. In addition, the classrooms are an integral part of their host high school and students participate in many school‑sponsored activities. The program hours are 7:45‑2:15 pm with a 220‑day schedule. Students in 10th grade participate in the MCAS Alternate Assessment, while Rhode Island students participate in the Multi State Alternate Assessment (MSSA) and Rhode Island Alternate Assessment (RIAA) for Science. Job Description Participation in a mentor program that focuses on Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS), Deeper Learning, Positive Behavioral Intervention & Supports (PBIS) and Social Communication Emotional Regulation Transactional Supports (SCERTS). Work as a productive member of the instructional team to maximize student outcomes. Participate in person‑centered team meetings to develop individualized programming for students. Maintain data collection employing research‑based best practice strategies to demonstrate student progress and adjust student goals. Assume classroom responsibilities in absence of teacher, when requested. Participation in daily duties as assigned by teacher(s) within the SCEC site, as well as within general education settings. Other student‑related assigned responsibilities as needed, including 1:1 assistance and inclusion opportunities. Provide support to students in community and inclusive settings. Reinforce academic concepts to help students achieve their academic goals. Work with general education staff to support students with inclusion opportunities. Job Details Job ID: 5755600 Position Type: Full‑time Salary: $28,449 to $46,365 Per Year Job Requirements An Associate's Degree or higher from an accredited College or University, or pass ParaPro. Certification in Cardio‑Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/First Aid within 30 days of hire and commitment to keep certification current. Certification in Crisis Prevention & Intervention (CPI) within 30 days of hire and commitment to keep certification current. Commitment to Deeper Learning and Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) as demonstrated by personal and professional development. 7‑D License within 30 days of hire and commitment to keep license current. Demonstrated ability to implement and manage a therapeutic and engaging learning environment for students who present with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges, communication challenges, neuromotor deficits, medical challenges, significant cognitive and learning disabilities, and self‑regulation, as well as students on the Autism Spectrum (ASD). Follow health care plans, such as but not limited to feeding protocols/plans, and seizure action plans, allergy and medication delegation when required. Demonstrated ability to work on behalf of high school‑aged students in a collegial and skillful fashion with staff and school district employees. Experience using technology and daily data collection to enhance instructional and professional responsibilities. Working knowledge of or willingness to learn about Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS), Social Communication, Emotional Regulation, Transactional Supports model, Deeper Learning, and collaborative problem‑solving (CPS). Experience with Project Based Learning. Experience with Student Focused Learning. Effective communication skills are necessary to develop positive relationships with general education school staff and families. Knowledge of assistive technology and augmentative communication (AAC). Experience in inclusion settings. Experience with general education instruction in an inclusive environment. Demonstrate ability to work/rotate in three unique classroom settings. Three references or two letters of recommendation are required. At least 2 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
