Details Float pool position covering SICU, MICU, CCU, and Oncology ICU units Facility includes three 18-bed ICUs and one 6-bed Oncology ICU SICU cares for trauma, surgical complication, neuro (TNK), and open-heart surgery patients MICU cares for critically ill patients with exacerbated medical comorbidities CCU cares for patients recovering from cardiac procedures requiring additional monitoring Oncology ICU cares for critically ill oncology patients and those undergoing chemo induction All ICUs manage DKA, ETOH withdrawal, and other high-acuity patients Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:00 Every other weekend required, including Saturday and Sunday May be scheduled to work if a holiday falls during the assignment Floating may be requested based on facility needs Epic EMR experience required Requirements Active VA RN license or compact license in hand Minimum 2 years of critical care nursing experience required Specialty experience within the last year required Previous charge nurse experience required BLS and NIHSS certification required; ACLS preferred NIH stroke education required Epic charting experience required Trauma Level I experience preferred Skilled in IV therapy, central line care, PICC line management, arterial line management, and blood product administration Skilled in ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube insertion/removal assistance, and ETT/NT suctioning Skilled in CRRT/CVVHD and acute/chronic renal failure management Skilled in titrating vasoactive and cardiac drips, continuous IV sedation, and procedural sedation monitoring Skilled in CVA/stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, hypothermia protocol, and post-neurosurgical care Skilled in post-cardiac surgery care, pulmonary artery line/Swan-Ganz monitoring, and cardiac cath/intervention care Experience with ECMO, IABP, and TAVR preferred Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, infection prevention, and multisystem organ failure care Skilled in IV insulin protocols and phlebotomy Driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration Additional Information Provide critical care nursing support across multiple ICU specialties as part of a float pool team First-time travelers may be considered for this role Local candidates accepted at the same base rate Prior permanent employees must have separated from employment for at least 6 months before being eligible to travel RTO should be minimal, ideally no full calendar week off and no more than 7 total days requested during the assignment Any RTO requests must be submitted with the initial application and confirmed prior to starting American Traveler Job ID P-727514.
