Travel RN – Medical/Surgical (Trauma/Ortho/Surgical)

Contract | 13 Weeks | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Expected 36 hours/week; 48 hours/week may be available upon request

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 44-bed Trauma/Ortho/Surgical unit serving adult patients including trauma, orthopedic, urology, colorectal, and post-operative populations
• Manage a patient ratio of 6:1, with the ability to manage up to 7:1 as needed
• Document and manage patient care using EPIC EHR
• Complete a facility-required dysrhythmia and math of dosage test with the education department prior to beginning work on the unit
• Fulfill weekend shift requirements — expected 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule, with likelihood of being scheduled at least 2 of those 4 weekends
• Float to units with a comparable patient population when operationally necessary (float team is robust; likelihood of floating is low but the expectation exists)

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Pennsylvania
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with trauma/surgical background
• Proficiency with EPIC EHR
• Ability to manage patient ratios up to 7:1
• Must complete all required Pennsylvania state clearances prior to start, including: Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Department of Human Services Fingerprinting, FBI Department of Aging Fingerprinting (accepted within last two years), and PA State Police (PATCH) clearance for employment purposes
• Must live at least 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel placement

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment
• Familiarity with post-operative and orthopedic patient care
• Flexible, team-oriented, and professional demeanor with a willingness to adapt to unit needs
