Travel RN - Med/Surg

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical/Surgical (Urology) position requiring high-acuity competency, AL or compact RN licensure, and comfort managing 1:6-7 patient ratios.

Job Details

• Urology-focused Medical/Surgical unit within a hospital setting,
• High-acuity patient population with a 1:6-7 patient ratio,
• Proficiency with insulin and heparin drips is required; experience with peritoneal dialysis is a plus,
• Day shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM),
• 36 or 48 hours per week are both acceptable,
• Every other weekend (EOW) required,
• Block booking available, except during holidays,

Job Requirements

• Active Alabama RN license or compact RN license, currently in hand and in good standing,
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience with demonstrated high-acuity competency,
• Required certifications: BLS and NIHSS; ACLS preferred,
• Comfort managing a 1:6 or 1:7 patient ratio is required,
• Experience in large healthcare facilities required,
• Two professional references required for consideration,
• PDF copies of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration,
• COVID vaccination required (documented religious or medical exemption accepted),
• Flu shot required (documented religious or medical exemption accepted),
• Candidate's permanent address must be at least 90 miles from the facility,

• Pre-start modules required prior to beginning the assignment (non-billable),
• Orientation is held every other Monday,
• Scrub colors: all navy, or navy pants with a white top,
• Former permanent staff of this facility are not eligible for travel roles for 10 years following separation,
• After completing 2 consecutive contracts, travelers must take a 6-month break before returning (exceptions considered case-by-case),
• Local candidates are not accepted; permanent address must be at least 90 miles from the facility
