Claims Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated insurance professional to join our claims team. The Claim Specialist is responsible for providing superior customer service to policyholders, agents, claimants and others that are encountered during general claim handling. This position is responsible for handling claims within the client companies’ self-retentions, conducting claim reviews, on-boarding as well as reporting to the excess carrier. This is a highly visible position requiring significant business relations. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage a case load of approximately 125 claims
\n
• Make proper reserving and settlement recommendations
\n
• Complete timely and thorough investigations
\n
• Direct independent adjusters, appraisers and defense attorneys as necessary
\n
• Negotiate settlements, attend mediation's and trials, as merited
\n
• Properly document the claim files and maintain current diaries
\n
• Conduct claim reviews with clients and agents/brokers
\n
• Conduct on-boarding of new clients
\n
• Market the company via business/industry functions
\n

REQUIREMENTS

\n
• Minimum of 3 years claims handling experience
\n
• College degree is preferred
\n
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
\n
• Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs and an aptitude to learn new programs
\n
• Will abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with DMC risk management controls.
\n
• Obtain/maintain non-resident adjuster licenses for mandatory states
\n
