Application Engineer II/Senior Application Engineer (III)

Woodward’s Industrial Product Division in Windsor, Colorado is seeking a Level 2 or 3 Engineer with expertise in Human Machine Interface (HMI) development and integration. The position is focused on designing, programming, testing, and supporting HMI solutions using platforms such as Ignition, iFIX, and Qt, while developing operator interfaces that integrate seamlessly with turbine and plant control systems in Military Marine applications. The engineer is expected to have strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols including Modbus and OPC, networking, and enabling reliable data exchange between controllers, HMIs, and third-party equipment. Experience with model-based design tools such as Simulink is desired, particularly as it relates to control system modeling, simulation, validation, and integration with application software. Additionally, the role involves the creation, configuration, and maintenance of computer system images in both Windows and Linux environments, supporting deployment, validation, and lifecycle management of control system hardware. Success in this position requires strong technical problem-solving skills, the ability to lead design reviews and customer interactions, and experience delivering robust, validated software and HMI solutions for complex marine automation applications.

Level 2: Estimated annual base pay: $77,000-$105,000

Level 3: Estimated annual base pay: $93,000-$125,000

• Application Processes: Supports technical content in proposal creation, contributes to product specifications, software, and application literature. Promotes and implements process improvements.
• Execute Technical Assignments: Carries out a range of technical tasks and projects, resolving moderately complex issues using current technologies and established procedures.

Level 3:

Key Responsibilities:

• Application Maintenance: Fully proficient with application software and associated operator interface/HMI software to support test setups, debug recommendations, and software changes.
• Advanced Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves intricate technical challenges by analyzing multiple information sources and applying innovative solutions.
• Application Processes: Supports the commercial group in proposal creation, technical support of commercial offers, and customer presentations. Creates product specifications, software and application literature for Minor Scope Projects/Systems.
• Project Management: Leads small to medium sized engineering projects, coordinating resources and timelines to achieve project objectives.
• Technical Leadership: Guides the design and implementation of complex application systems, ensuring adherence to best practices and architectural standards.
