Job Description This position coordinates the nutritional care of patients, completing nutritional assessments, preparing nutrition care plans, recommending nutritional therapies, and monitoring the effectiveness of nutritional care. The role provides nutrition education to promote improved health, follows standard practices and complies with regulatory requirements, conducts community education, marketing, and public relations activities, attends committee meetings as assigned, and participates in in‑services and continuing education programs. Education Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field (required) Completion of American Dietetic Association (ADA) approved Standards of Education (required) Work Experience Minimum 3 years of clinical work experience (required) Certifications Registered Dietitian status with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of the ADA (required) Current licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist status within the state of practice (required) Advanced certification recognized by ADA & CDR (optional) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally. Proficiency with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to the role, and keyboard use. Strong interpersonal skills. Substantial knowledge of normal and therapeutic nutrition, nutrition support principles, counseling techniques, teaching, and presentation skills. Excellent analytical skills to assess nutritional status and develop appropriate care plans based on identified problems. Excellent organizational and prioritization skills to meet frequent deadlines. Ability to travel throughout the facility. Job Duties Assist in the day-to-day operations of the department, including training new employees, resolving issues, and improving processes. Assess patients' nutritional needs and prepare nutritional care plans. Provide nutritional education and counseling to patients. Document records completely and accurately. Adapt communication and behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy, tailoring introductions, explanations of services, and communication style. Perform other related duties as required. Physical and Environmental Demands Medium work: Occasional lifting of 20 to 50 pounds, frequent lifting of 10 to 25 pounds, or constant lifting of up to 10 pounds. The role involves standing, walking, and occasionally pushing or pulling materials. Exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, and hazardous medications or waste may occur. Occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases is possible.
