Assistant Manager

Job Summary The Assistant Manager plays a vital leadership role in supporting daily restaurant operations, ensuring exceptional guest experience, maintaining Keke’s brand standards, and developing team members. This position partners with the General Manager to oversee staffing, training, food quality, safety, sales growth, and profitability. The Assistant Manager models Keke’s Guiding Principles of “People First, Be Bold, Own It, Win Together” in every interaction. Essential Functions (Key Responsibilities) include, but not limited to: Support the General Manager in achieving restaurant goals in guest satisfaction, sales, profitability, food quality, and sanitation. Ensure each guest and team member receive an exceptional experience at his/her Keke’s cafe on every shift. Train, coach, and mentor team members to uphold Keke’s brand and operational standards. Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and performance evaluations of hourly staff. Ensure food products are consistently prepared and served according to Keke’s recipes, portioning, and presentation standards. Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local health, safety, and labor regulations. Participate in employee relations, including administering corrective action and policy compliance. Perform cash handling, reconciliation, and daily deposits accurately and according to policy. Review financial data, including profit-and-loss statements, and take corrective actions to achieve controllable profit targets. Prepare required paperwork, forms, schedules, and reports in an organized, timely manner. Oversee food and supply receiving processes to ensure accuracy and quality. Conduct routine inspections of equipment, dining areas, and restrooms to maintain cleanliness and functionality. Support the General Manager and build strong community relationships to drive guest counts and promote Keke’s in the local market. Provide leadership presence during peak periods and jump in as needed to assist hourly team members. Consistently model Keke’s hospitality values and uphold a positive, respectful workplace. Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager Education + Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 2 years of experience in restaurant assistant management or equivalent supervisory roles, preferably in full service Food Safety Manager and state Alcohol certifications required. Proven experience performing in a similar role. Knowledge, Skills + Abilities Strong organizational skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in the English language. Strong math skills and experience with point-of-sale systems and cash handling. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, early mornings, and some evenings, with availability to work shifts between 6:00 am and 5:00 pm or as needed. Ability to adhere to Keke’s brand standards. Ability to interpret financial statements and understand contributing factors. Ability to perform job duties of every cafe position. Ability multitask in accordance with the demands of the business. Ability to identify and anticipate opportunities and implement corrective action steps. Proven ability to problem solve, handle conflict, and manage high stress situations while maintaining a positive attitude every shift. Physical Requirements + Working Conditions: Must be able to complete tasks and communicate information in a noisy environment. Physical ability to work in a restaurant environment performing job functions like accessing items from various levels, remaining in a stationary position, and moving short distances for a minimum of 6–8-hour shifts. Must be able to move items in various ways that weigh up to 50 pounds. Must be able to safely operate kitchen equipment. Must be able to operate objects using gross manipulation skills to assess tactile sensations. Must be able to observe and comprehend information on documents, screens, and equipment displays. The typical pay range for this role is: Minimum:$48,000.00 - Maximum:$66,000.00 Please note that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which the position falls.
