Construction Project Estimator

Job Description

• Analyze project plans, specifications, and blueprints to determine the scope of work

• Conduct site visits to assess project feasibility and identify potential challenges

• Research and obtain budgetary estimates for materials, labor, and equipment

• Prepare detailed cost estimates that include material costs, labor costs, equipment rentals, permits, and overhead

• Track and monitor project costs throughout the construction process

• Prepare cost reports and variance analyses to identify cost overruns and implement corrective actions

• Stay up to date on current construction methods, materials, and costs

• Update Standard Estimating Tool for use by Project Managers at sites

• Develop and Lead estimating training for Project Managers and Planners at sites across the enterprise

• Domestic travel required

Skills and Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in project planning and coordination

• 5+ years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications

• 5+ years of experience in Material estimating

• 5+ years of experience preparing time, cost, and labor estimates

• 5+ years of experience with Estimates at Completion, Data Analysis, and/or Budgeting/Cost Performance Reporting - Bachelor degree in Construction Management

• Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical), architecture, or construction management

• Knowledge of tracking and monitoring project costs throughout the construction process

• Familiarity with current construction methods, materials, and costs
