MAT Registered Nurse

FT Day-Monday-Friday 8 am-4:30 pm (no weekends, no holidays and no on call) Position Summary The MAT Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care to individuals receiving treatment for substance use disorders within a correctional healthcare setting. This role is responsible for administering MAT medications, conducting nursing assessments, monitoring patient responses, and collaborating with the MAT provider and interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and compliant care delivery. Key Responsibilities Administer MAT medications according to provider orders and facility protocols. Perform nursing assessments to monitor withdrawal symptoms, treatment response, and potential side effects. Conduct venipuncture and prepare laboratory specimens; track and follow up on results. Accurately document patient care activities, assessments, and medication administration in the electronic health record (EHR). Collaborate with MAT providers, nursing staff, behavioral health clinicians, and security personnel to ensure coordinated care. Educate patients on treatment adherence, safety, and harm-reduction strategies. Maintain accurate medication inventory and ensure compliance with DEA, state, and facility regulations for controlled substances. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and reporting related to MAT services. Assist with discharge planning to support treatment continuity post-release. Support staff training and education on MAT procedures and compliance standards. Perform other nursing duties as needed to ensure smooth program operations. Qualifications Active, unrestricted RN license in the state of employment. Prior experience in corrections, behavioral health, or addiction treatment preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Proficiency in medication administration, injections, and phlebotomy. Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and critical thinking skills. Ability to work effectively in a secure environment while adhering to safety and security protocols. Knowledge of MAT protocols, controlled substance handling, and applicable federal/state regulations. Upholds HIPAA and PREA regulations. Punctual and dependable for assigned/confirmed shifts. Maintains security clearance for the assigned facility.
