Day (United States of America) Job Description Hours per week: 36 Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: Weekdays; 6:00 am- 6:30pm Job Summary/Purpose : Under general supervision, the RN - Charge Nurse manages the daily operational oversight to ensure effective delivery of patient care. This position interacts with members of the healthcare team to achieve desired results. The RN - Charge Nurse consistently models excellence in patient care and contributes to unit leadership. Minimum Training and Education : Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing or Associate/Diploma degree in nursing are required; if Associate/Diploma degree, must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years in position and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years in position. A minimum of two years of work experience as a registered nurse in an OR designated area of practice required. Attendance in the Charge Nurse Workshop and successful completion of the MUHA Charge Nurse Competency-Based Orientation is required within 6 months of hire.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations : Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. (Continuous) Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. (Continuous) Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations.
