Tower Support Technician (ST3/4)

Job Summary:

Tower Support Technician (ST3) will work as part of a four-person construction crew or a two-person maintenance team. The ST3 will be responsible for performing various construction and maintenance tasks of communications equipment on vertical assets at elevated heights. ST3 will be assigned to a crew/team and deploy for 6-8 week rotations depending on workload.

Construction tasks include:

• Installing cellular and microwave antenna systems at elevated heights.
• Terminating, testing, and routing fiber, coaxial, data, and power cables.
• Aligning and optimization of antennas.
• Removing end of life equipment from vertical assets.

Maintenance tasks include:

• Troubleshooting communications systems.
• Testing and repairing or replacing fiber, coaxial, data and power cables.
• Replacing communication system components.
• Preventive maintenance of existing communication systems.
• Site surveys and inspections.

 

Qualifications:

• Availability to travel nationwide 100%.
• Availability to work outside normal business hours (i.e., shift work), to include nights and weekends, as needed.
• Must be punctual and reliable.
• Possess a valid and current driver’s license and be approved to operate a company vehicle.
• Successfully complete a pre-employment, post-offer drug test and adhere to Future Technologies and customer substance use prevention policies.
• Successfully complete a pre-employment, post offer background check, including criminal history check, employment history check, and education verification, among other things. Future Technologies will consider criminal history in a manner consistent with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
• Successfully complete Future Technologies tower training program at required level.
• Successfully complete all safety training required to perform work at specified location.
• Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
• Ability to communicate proficiently both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to read and write.
• Knowledge of basic mechanical terms and tools.

 

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in remote and challenging locations including, but not limited to rooftops, confined spaces, and all types of geographic locations.
• Ability to clearly identify specific color schemes.
• Ability to connect and disconnect various sizes and types of electronic connectors.
• The ability to use hand tools, power tools and industry test equipment.
• Standing, Walking and Climbing for extended periods of time.
• Repetitive Movements for extended periods of time.
• Push / Pull materials and equipment for extended periods of time.
• Lift / Carry materials that are an average weight of (50) pounds (6) to (8) hours daily.
• Ability to climb tall structures (100 feet or more) with an average of 50 lb. load and to work at altitudes of 300+ feet.
• Readiness to perform these duties in all weather conditions / climates including heat, cold, rain etc.
• Meet certain weight requirements post-offer, pre-employment and during employment to comply with OSHA regulations and equipment manufacturers safety standards for working at elevated heights; maximum weight to be qualified to climb upon hire is 240 pounds.
• Waist circumference must not exceed 60 inches measured at the navel as specified by the manufacturer of safety equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
