Registered Nurse (RN) - Special Care Nursery/Couplet Care

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Special Care Nursery/Couplet Care team. This is a full-time position with a focus on providing high-quality care to mothers and their newborns in a postpartum setting.

Job Details

• Shift: Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: 3 weekend shifts per schedule (Friday and Saturday night plus one Sunday every four weeks)
• Holiday Requirement: Work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients in the Couplet Care unit with typically 3:1 couplet ratios, or 4:1 with a Patient Care Technician (PCT) as needed.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including OB hospitalists and pediatricians, to deliver comprehensive patient care.
• Participate in the orientation process and successfully complete a pass/fail simulation laboratory on Day 1.
• Conduct patient assessments, document findings, and adjust care plans as necessary.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant nursing role.
• Current certifications in BLS (Basic Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) are required.
• Strong clinical skills and a passion for maternal and newborn care.
• Ability to work nights and meet weekend and holiday requirements.

Additional Information

• The unit has 22-30 postpartum beds and typically does not staff a PCT, unless patient ratios require.
• The registered nurses are responsible for their own IV starts, as there is no dedicated IV team.
• Equipment and support services, including a respiratory team, are available 24/7.
• Dress code for the unit includes Dignity Health scrubs for regular staff; travelers may wear dark blue scrubs.
