Overview Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) – Day or Night • Full Time • Shenandoah, TX, US Location: Nexus Children’s Hospital – Shenandoah, TX Schedule: Full Time | Days or Nights, rotating 3-4 day weeks, with every other weekend requirement Position Summary We’re seeking a Pediatric LVN to provide safe, compassionate nursing care to patients with medical and/or behavioral health conditions under the supervision of an RN or physician. In this role, you’ll support care plan implementation, administer medications and treatments, monitor for changes in condition, document patient responses, and help maintain a safe, therapeutic environment. This role is best suited for an LVN who is comfortable in a structured inpatient setting where medical and behavioral complexity often overlap. Key Responsibilities Provide basic nursing care to pediatric patients under RN, APRN, or physician supervision Administer medications and treatments safely within LVN scope Monitor and report signs of acute illness, chronic condition changes, or behavioral health crises Observe, document, and communicate changes in patient status to the supervising RN or provider Support implementation of care plans and reinforce patient/family education Use approved de-escalation techniques and support behavioral interventions under supervision Follow safety, infection control, and documentation standards in a fast-paced inpatient setting Collaborate with nursing, physicians, therapists, and families to support continuity of care Qualifications Current LVN license in Texas BLS required ACLS required, per unit requirement PALS required, per unit requirement De-escalation training within 30 days of hire 1–2 years of pediatric nursing experience preferred, ideally in an acute care setting Inpatient/rehab / acute / post-acute hospital experience preferred Experience with patients who have medical and/or behavioral health diagnoses strongly preferred Why Join Nexus?
