Psychiatric Medical Assistant

Provides clinical and administrative support to psychiatric providers and staff by preparing patients for appointments, assisting with procedures, maintaining patient records, coordinating care, and performing clerical duties.

Room patients, obtain and document vital signs, and update EHR/EMR records.

Assist with examinations, psychiatric procedures, and diagnostic testing.

Order laboratory tests and imaging as directed by providers and communicate results to patients when requested.

Gather and document health information and communicate patient needs to the care team.

Perform medication refills according to protocol and monitor controlled-substance prescriptions through the state database.

Manage psychiatric schedules, recall lists, and inboxes.

Provide patient education and assist patients with forms and other needs.

Prepare and maintain examination rooms, equipment, instruments, and medical supplies.

Perform clerical duties while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Prioritize multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining accuracy, quality, and patient safety.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED.

One year of psychiatric or behavioral health experience preferred.
