Department Information

Within this setting, the Manufacturing Engineering Program at Georgia Southern University prepares students for successful careers in advanced manufacturing, emphasizing the University values of collaboration, academic excellence, discovery and innovation, integrity, and sustainability in manufacturing engineering endeavors. The program supports the University mission of learner-centered engagement to foster a broad and varied academic environment for promoting experiential learning, applied research, and regional economic development for a rapidly growing manufacturing industrial base. The Manufacturing Engineering Program continues to be a key contributor to the future of manufacturing for the region, state, and nation in which students engage with faculty in impactful research for manufacturing advancement to drive competitiveness, resiliency, and national security.


Job Summary

Reporting to the department chair, the visiting instructor of Manufacturing Engineering will require teaching undergraduate and graduate courses with a full-time course load. This is an academic year appointment for the months of August 2026-May 2027. All visiting positions are non-tenure track appointments. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.


Required Qualifications

  • Earned Ph.D. in Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering, by May 1, 2026.
  • Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.
  • Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise in areas of advanced manufacturing is preferred.



Proposed Salary

Commensurate with experience.
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
