Director, Splunk Engineering & SRE

Salary: $147,000 - 310,000 per year Requirements:

• We bring deep, hands-on expertise in Splunk platform engineering and large-scale SIEM environments.
• We hold a bachelors degree in computer science or a related field, or we have equivalent work experience; an advanced degree is preferred.
• We have 12+ years of experience in information security or related technology, with experience in securities or financial services considered a plus.
• We have a strong foundation in Site Reliability Engineering and distributed systems.
• We can diagnose and resolve complex issues across the full stack, from application through OS and network layers.
• We have expert-level knowledge of Linux/Unix systems, including performance tuning and low-level troubleshooting.
• We understand networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, packet analysis, syslog pipelines, and latency debugging.
• We have experience building and running high-volume data ingestion and processing systems.
• We are proficient in Splunk SPL and data analysis.
• We have strong programming and scripting skills in Python, Go, Java, or similar languages.
• We have hands-on experience with DevOps and configuration management tools such as Ansible and Git.
• We have experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments.
• We understand security models, RBAC, and enterprise controls.
• We can work independently in high-pressure situations and take full ownership of outcomes.
• We operate with a mindset centered on automation, scalability, and reducing operational friction.
• We have strong technical depth and hands-on AI literacy, along with knowledge of MCP design.

• We own end-to-end engineering and operational accountability for our enterprise Splunk platform, including architecture, capacity planning, ingestion, integrations, and lifecycle management.
• We serve as the top technical escalation point, resolving critical incidents across application, platform, and infrastructure layers.
• We troubleshoot deep technical issues, including Linux/Unix OS internals, network behavior, and distributed system or ingestion failures.
• We drive reliability, capacity, observability, and performance engineering using modern monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Moog.
• We architect and scale high-throughput ingestion pipelines across syslog frameworks, Kubernetes or container platforms, and cloud or enterprise systems.
• We own authentication, RBAC, and access-control models to maintain strong governance and compliance.
• We design and implement automation and configuration management frameworks using Git and Ansible to reduce operational toil.
• We lead incident response, root cause analysis, and permanent fixes while applying SRE practices such as SLAs, SLOs, and error budgets.
• We drive platform upgrades, resilience improvements, and disaster recovery readiness.
• We evaluate and introduce emerging technologies, including AI/ML-driven analytics and contextual data platforms.
• We create custom solutions for unresolved problems using Python, Java, Go, or similar languages.
• We influence engineering direction across teams through technical leadership as individual contributors.
• We mentor and develop engineers through hands-on guidance and deep technical expertise.
