Roofing Installation Subject Matter Expert

Roofing Installation Subject Matter Expert Certification Content Development POSITION PURPOSE: Serve as the primary installation subject matter expert (SME) in the development and maintenance of roofing industry certification programs. Consult to other certification department staff for developing multiple choice tests, hands-on performance exams and other related content. Collaborate with fellow department staff to write, review, and maintain the aforementioned content and ensure accuracy, relevance and validity in the context of real-world roofing work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Recruit and coordinate industry volunteer SMEs for certification development committees and task forces
2. Work closely with volunteer SMEs to gather industry data for creating certification content. This work is done through site visits, and virtual and face-to-face meetings
3. Write review, and maintain Certification content, ensuring it represents industry best practices and accurately reflects real-world roof installations
4. Assist other certification staff with facilitating stakeholder development meetings and exam events
5. Interact with other departments to facilitate content reviews and support the sales and marketing of NRCA’s credentials
6. Help ensure overall certification program content meets industry stakeholder needs and the association’s goals
7. Support the Vice-president of Certification in various aspects of the development process
8. Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

– Extensive knowledge of the installation of a diverse set roof coverings and materials
– Strong writing skills with the ability to write technical specifications
– Excellent written and oral communications with internal and external stakeholders
– Strong attention to detail
– Project management experience, either as a PM or as a key stakeholder on roofing projects
– The ability to work in a deadline-driven environment, with special focus on driving deadlines and ensuring timelines are met
– Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office and various database software and the ability to quickly learn new applications

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE:

• 10+ year experience in the roofing industry as an installer, foreman, manufacturers field technical representative or other supervisory role with close knowledge of installation processes
• Experience reading, writing and/or interpreting roof project specifications

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Casual office environment with remote work optional
• Some travel required, which may entail weekend or evening work outside of normal business hours
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and assist with setup and breakdown of roofing mockups and hands-on testing materials
