Job Description Title: School Guidance Counselor Department: Career and Technical Education Term of Employment: 10 Month Reports To: Building Principal Responsibilities Provide counseling to students focusing on their academic, social, and emotional needs. Act as liaison between community-based organizations, students, and work‑based learning coordinator. Work closely with school districts to recruit future students through district tours, presentations, and individual student visits. Respond to day‑to‑day issues and unanticipated student crises during the school day. Share guidance duties with other Career and Technical guidance counselors. Coordinate student recognition ceremonies. Serve as a liaison between the college and multiple school districts to foster collaborative relationships supporting student success. Coordinate registration processes with participating colleges to ensure students are enrolled in appropriate courses and programs. Perform other duties as assigned by administration to support the overall mission of Sullivan County BOCES. Requirements NYS School Counselor Certification. Working knowledge of the instructional and social needs of students. Ability to design and implement in‑school prevention programming according to current best practices. Ability to simultaneously manage a regular counseling schedule and triage crises. Ability to prioritize multiple competing urgent tasks. Minimum Qualifications NYS School Counselor Certification. Position Type Full‑Time Salary $55,390 to $83,249 Per Year Location Sullivan County, New York, 100 miles from New York City. Sullivan County BOCES serves eight school districts in the southern Catskill region and offers a range of shared programs.
