Diesel Technician Apprentice-Paid Training

POSITION SUMMARY

At Republic Services, Technicians play a critical role in maintaining the performance and quality of our fleet. A Technician performs routine and preventive maintenance on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks. The Technician Apprenticeship program will train an entry level technician over a two‑year period.

APRENTICESHIP TRAINING

Electrical diagnosis of starting and charging systems. Air conditioning and heating component identification and inspection. Wheel end assembly component identification and inspection. Air system component identification and inspection. Air brakes component identification and inspection. Hydraulics component identification and inspection. Truck preventative maintenance. Training begins 10 August 2026 in Dallas, TX and lasts nine weeks of company‑paid training at the Republic Services Technical Institute. Following successful completion, graduates continue with twenty‑two months of on‑the‑job training, mentoring, and virtual instructor‑led technical content toward Apprentice certification as a Republic Services entry‑level Diesel Mechanic. Accelerated participants who meet milestones may advance to a Level C Technician earlier.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal Technician Apprentice is a logical problem solver with an interest in engineering and technology, willing to undertake a two‑year apprenticeship. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, or holidays. Willingness to uphold the values and expectations at Republic Services, including safety, ethics, and respect. Must be willing to travel to and reside in Dallas, TX for nine weeks of in‑person training.

PAY & PROGRESSION

Pay increases after graduation. Pay increases for completing 500 and 1,000 hours of on‑the‑job training. Pay increase with promotion to Technology C. Boots, uniform, and PPE provided.
