Essential Duties:

• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments for procedures.
• Assist surgeons and surgical teams during operations by passing instruments and supplies.
• Maintain sterile environments and adhere to infection control protocols.
• Perform preoperative and postoperative tasks, including patient preparation and equipment sterilization.
• Ensure the availability and functionality of surgical equipment and supplies.
• Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures and inventory.

Responsibilities:

• Patient Preparation: Assist in preparing patients for surgery, including positioning and draping.
• Surgical Assistance: Provide direct support to surgeons during operations by handing instruments, retracting tissues, and managing surgical equipment.
• Instrument Management: Ensure surgical instruments are properly sterilized, counted, and available during procedures.
• Environment Maintenance: Maintain a sterile field and ensure adherence to aseptic techniques.
• Postoperative Care: Assist in postoperative patient care and the clean-up of the operating room.
• Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Education and Training: Stay updated on the latest surgical techniques and participate in training and educational programs.

Requirements:

• Certification: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
• Licensure: Active certification and licensure as required by state regulations.
• Education: Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Experience: Prior clinical experience in a surgical setting is preferred.
• Skills: Proficiency in surgical techniques, instrument handling, and sterile processing.
