Data Engineering Manager at Aviva Services Excellence Centre. Overview The role leads a team of data engineers and architects to deliver robust, scalable, and secure data solutions that support strategic initiatives across Aviva’s data estate. The manager drives technical excellence, fosters continuous improvement, and champions innovation in a fast‑paced, Agile environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage a team of data engineers and architects delivering services to stakeholders in the UK. Provide strategic direction and hands‑on technical guidance to ensure high‑quality delivery. Co‑coach, mentor, and manage performance to develop the team. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align and execute initiatives. Drive adoption of modern data engineering practices, tools, and technologies. Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous learning. Experience & Qualifications 5+ years of experience managing technical teams in data engineering or software development. Strong technical awareness of SQL, Python, Spark, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure). Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and modern software engineering principles. Experience working in cross‑functional, multinational teams. Core Skills Adaptability and resilience in dynamic environments. Foster collaboration and build trust across teams. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Excellent planning, organizational, and integration capabilities. Deep understanding of data engineering principles and best practices.
