Job Description
Job Description
Are you a compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist who believes that young children can meet their fullest potential when they feel seen, heard, valued, and understood?
Have you been searching for the right workplace in which to build your long-term career, where your skills will help autistic and neurodivergent students express themselves - and you, too, can shine? As a Speech-Language Pathologist for our preschool-aged students , you will do more than provide comprehensive speech and language assessment, therapeutic intervention, and consultation services. You’ll work with a multidisciplinary team to propel children toward a successful journey ahead - building their feelings of self-worth as they discover how to best express their ideas, needs, and wishes. And by partnering with educators, families, and related service providers, you’ll give each child the opportunity to have an entire team of people who understand how to generalize skills in various settings. Although a valued member of the interdisciplinary team, our clinicians are afforded a strong degree of professional autonomy, with decision-making guided by best practices, evidence-based interventions, and the best interests of students. We’ll provide you with therapy resources and supports, including assessment materials, AAC supports, assistive technology, curriculum resources, and professional development as needed. This is a chance to do purpose‑driven work for an organization that aligns with the values which probably inspired you to enter this profession in the first place. Here, you can turn your compassion into action and make a profoundly meaningful impact. And as part of our team at Anderson, you will also have the chance to flourish - both in and out of the workplace. Ours is an agency that prioritizes a work-life balance, with limited expectations outside of normal work hours, and an ongoing effort made to protect your personal time. In addition, robust benefits, generous time off, retirement plans with employer contributions, and career advancement pathways await; many come to Anderson for an opportunity and stay for decades! Now Offering a $7,500 Sign-On/Retention Bonus!
Eligible Preschool Speech-Language Pathologist hired into this position may receive a $7,500 sign-on/retention bonus , paid as follows:
- $2,500 after 6 months of employment
- $2,500 after 12 months of employment
- $2,500 after 18 months of employment
What You Will Do as a Speech Language Pathologist:
- You will be a valued member of an interdisciplinary team, collaborating closely with teachers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, leadership, and other related service professionals to support student outcomes.
- You will create an engaging, motivational, structured experience for students as you conduct speech and language evaluations using standardized and/or criterion‑referenced tools, and as you deliver individual and group speech-language therapy services.
- You will prepare written evaluation reports, summaries, IEP goals, objectives, and progress documentation.
- You will address functional communication, speech and language development, oral‑motor skills, and AAC needs.
- You will integrate therapy goals into classroom routines and preschool programming.
- You will participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to treatment planning.
- You will provide consultation and guidance to team members regarding communication strategies and supports.
- You will review and upload therapy prescriptions/scripts to the CPSE portal.
- You will coordinate service start dates, manage therapy schedules, monitor productivity, and arrange make‑up sessions.
- You will report missed sessions to school districts in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- You will compile related service discipline reports for annual and regulatory reporting.
- You will provide oversight and support to related service providers in the preschool setting.
- You will maintain accurate records and comply with all licensure, certification, and regulatory requirements.
- You will communicate progress updates with parents and guardians, celebrating strengths, breakthroughs, and milestones while sharing strategies to help navigate challenges.
- You will help create a culture of unconditional positive regard that maximizes strengths while effectively navigating challenges, and ultimately do what you can to optimize student success and self-confidence.
- Dependability, compassion, integrity, patience, adaptability, perseverance, and a genuine belief that students deserve the opportunity to feel seen, heard, valued, and understood.
- Strong communication, organizational, collaborative, interpersonal, teaching, and problem-solving skills.
- Deep understanding of autism, developmental disabilities, and how to navigate complex communication needs and sensory sensitivities.
- Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary, early childhood environment, and to build connected, trusted relationships with children and their families.
- Alignment with our mission and values.
- Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders or related field.
- Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidates are encouraged to apply; supervision and mentorship are available to support successful completion of the fellowship.
- New York State certification as a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) or Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped.
- Current New York State licensure and certification maintained throughout employment.
- Complete agency orientation and training.
- Fulfill all mandated reporting requirements, ensure compliance with agency policies, and adhere to organizational protocols.
