The Qualifications:

• Previous ADON experience preferred  OR 2 years' unit manager/supervisory experience
• Possess a current, unencumbered  Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania., bachelor's degree preferred
• Is knowledgeable of the needs of the aging and chronically ill requiring long term care
• Possesses the ability to effectively communicate with personnel, resident, family members, visitors, government agency personnel, and the general public
• Has patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition
• Possesses strong leadership, communication, and observational skills and the ability to manage high stress situations

The Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing, staffing and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Service Department
• Resolve personnel issues and keep employees informed of current changes that affect the quality patient care provided
• Develop work assignments and schedules, and assist nursing supervisory staff
• Delegate the administrative tasks of the nursing teams assigned duties
• Supervise all admissions for eligibility/denial of Medicare skilled services
• Notify all providers of resident status of eligibility for skilled services and changes
• Ensure that written physician orders for skilled services per Medicare guidelines are obtained and coordinate therapeutic services for residents
• Make daily rounds of the nursing department to ensure that all work assignments and resident care needs are met
• Monitor medication passes and treatment schedules and report medication errors
• Provide direct nursing care as necessary
