Our clients include people dealing with mental illness, physical illness or disabilities; women and children experiencing domestic violence; and Veterans. We tailor services to the needs of each person to help them rebuild their lives. Key services include housing, mental health care, medical care, domestic violence services, substance abuse treatment, income assistance and life skills programs --- all aimed at improving the self-sufficiency of the individuals and families served. Large Social Services Agency Local Los Angeles Community Impact Help to put roofs over the heads of those in need Non-Profit Organization Extremely Visible role within organization Great Benefits Job Details Job Summary: The Psychiatrist will be responsible for assessing patients, diagnosing or ruling out mental disorders, prescribing treatments, documenting encounters and services, and conducting regular follow-up appointments to monitor the clients' progress. Develops treatment plans by determining the nature and extent of psychiatric disorders and establishing treatment goals and methodologies, including prescription of psychotropic medications. Monitors and evaluates treatment results. Evaluates clients by interviewing client, family, and other persons; conducting physical examinations; observing behaviors; reviewing medical history and related documents; selecting, administering, and interpreting psychological tests; and ordering laboratory tests and evaluating results. Treats clients by utilizing psychotherapeutic methods and medications; discussing progress toward goals with clients; providing instructions; and monitoring effect of medications. Maintains interdisciplinary treatment by reviewing treatment plans and progress, and consulting and collaborating with primary care physicians, mental health therapists, nurses, and other health care providers. Assures quality and safe service for clients and staff by participating in utilization reviews; and remaining available for emergency consultations. Improves staff competence by providing discussions regarding the interrelationship between psychosocial and physiological problems, psychotropic medications, crisis intervention, and related issues. Maintains historical records by documenting symptoms, medications, and treatment events and writing summaries. Completes communications and forms in regards to client cases as necessary by social services and other pertinent agencies. Updates job knowledge by participating in continuing medical educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations. Required Qualifications: Completion of a psychiatry residency or a combined family medicine/psychiatry residency in an ACGME-approved residency program Current BC/BE in Psychiatry (American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology) Valid state Medical license as MD/DO Valid DEA certificate Strong understanding of advocacy and the role it plays in mental health Detail-oriented with excellent time management, organizational, written, verbal, interpersonal, and computer skills Able to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge and experience in chemical dependency and substance abuse treatment Knowledge of Medi-Cal documentation and requirements Bilingual Spanish Information collected and processed as part of your Jobot candidate profile, and any job applications, resumes, or other information you choose to submit is subject to Jobot's Privacy Policy, as well as the Jobot California Worker Privacy Notice and Jobot Notice Regarding Automated Employment Decision Tools which are available at jobot.com/legal.
