About the Position
TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified ICU/Critical Care RN in Omaha, Nebraska, 68122!
Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Candidates must not be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated facilities. Description: Candidates not adhering to the fingernail policy will face termination of contract. A valid driver’s license is required for submission to confirm eligibility based on location. The unit requires nurses to pass an exam during orientation. All necessary resources for exam preparation will be provided. A minimum score of 90% is required to pass the exam. Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:2, with adjustments made for downgrades. Common patient diagnoses include COPD, pneumonia, CVA, TIA, DKA, sepsis, CHF, STEMI, and neuro conditions. Registered nurses are required to administer and titrate drips, including vasopressors and insulin. There is a charge nurse present on each shift, and this role takes on patient assignments. Patient care techs are available based on unit census. Critical care is covered by hospitalists or intensivists 24/7. E-ICU services are staffed continuously by nursing and advanced practice providers. Registered nurses must troubleshoot equipment such as vents and BiPAPs. Nurses are required to interpret their own telemetry strips. Shifts are scheduled by the unit scheduler, with weekend coverage needed every other weekend. Holiday requirements may vary based on unit needs, and floating to other units may be required. The dress code is navy blue scrubs. Unit orientation consists of both system onboarding and departmental training. Requests for time off should be submitted upfront, with limits on additional requests during contracts. The facility reserves the right to cancel shifts within the contract period. The charting system utilized is EPIC. A Bachelor’s degree in nursing is not required. The trauma level designation is 2.
